Save Money With Ease In 2020

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Christmas has been and gone, it’s the start of a new year, and if you’re anything like me, the tree is down, and the decorations have been packed away ready for next time.

You might even now be thinking about those “new year’s resolutions” and hoping this year it will be different and you’ll stick it out past February.

Now while I can’t help you personally to lose weight or stop smoking (your own GP can though, so make sure you book an appointment if these are you goals!), I CAN help you with making, saving and investing money.

I’ve had to learn this the hard way over the past 5 years.

Putting the right amount of money aside is not my natural skill, so I have had to find ways to help. I’ve tried wall charts, money-bingo, penny challenges and direct debits, but the one thing I’ve stuck to throughout is fintech. I LOVE trying out different apps to help me with my finances, and thankfully for us in the UK, there are NUMEROUS options!

In this post I wanted to tell you about a free money app I’ve tried called Chip that will help you with all your personal finance goals in 2020.

What is Chip?

Chip is a pretty robo-app that helps you to save money. It’s so simple – once you’ve downloaded it onto your phone, you link it to your bank account and the app works out how much money you can save regularly. It does this automatically and will adjust as your life and income does, but the good thing is you can manually adjust the save level too.

Your money is stored in an e-wallet that is secure with bank level encryption hosted by Barclays. It’s not a savings account like you would have with a bank and it isn’t used for trading activities because it’s “ring-fenced” away from all that.

If you’re in your overdraft it will still work, so it means you can save money to pay off the overdraft once and for all!

And if you have multiple goals, you can split the money you have stashed between them, in whatever percentage you want, which I think is a fabulous feature.

Also, if you change your mind about a save, you can cancel it, as long as you cancel before 3pm.

And yes, if you want to manually transfer lump sums to your Chip account, you can do that too!

So if you need some help to save like I do, and chip sounds like it would be helpful, you can join up using my link and get £10 as a welcome bonus!

  1. Just head to this link*: https://www.getchip.uk/ps10-code-promo/promo-female-money-doctor (*sponsored link)
  2. Download Chip, and then let it do it’s thing. Once you’ve had 2 saves, you’ll be credited with £10 after 30 days.
  3. Leave the money alone, and “hey-presto” you’ve reached your money goals!

FYI – Make sure you sign up by th 14th January to claim your freebie!!

Final Thoughts

January is the perfect time to start on your “new year’s resolutions”, and while in reality, most people don’t stick to them, putting money aside is now so easy with apps like Chip that it makes it much more likely that you’ll be able to… and dare I say it, but it might even make stashing cash FUN!

So good Luck, and I hope next year you’ll be telling me all the goals you’ve been able to reach with Chip!

Until next time,

Great to hear about Chip. A couple of my friends have used it and I can confirm that it’s worth it! If I am allowed another way to save money with ease is by taking advantage of your referral schemes. One site called Referral Codes at https://referralcodes.com/ has served me well since It has a whole load of referral codes there and as a result, I have been able to share them easily with friends and family.
