A new year can be a time of deep introspection, and if your job has been making you unhappy, then maybe its time to look at doing something new.
This contributed post offers a few suggestions about how you could start going about doing this and find some job happiness!
New Year Blues?
It’s the new year, and you’ll finally be over all the festivities of Christmas; you’ll also be ready to take on a fresh start and the unique challenges that 2018 may have in store. If you’ve gone back to work this month after the Christmas break, and you’ve dreading every day of it; there’s no time like the present to make changes and better your life by heading in a new direction regarding your job or career. Your role will take up a vast majority of your life; therefore, it’s crucial that you find some satisfaction and reward from it so that you don’t feel miserable for a significant portion of your time. Being busy isn’t an excuse any more to not do something about it!
Get ready and go online; now is the time to explore all of your potential options regarding your job or career. You can start using that stationery you received as a Christmas present and write down the steps you’ll need to take to get to where you want to be. Make this year the one where you’re brave; it could mean that you completely change the course of your life for the better and can look forward to a bright future ahead. The following are some ideas, inspiration, and advice for those who want a new start this year and deserve plenty of job satisfaction in their working life.
Education And Training
Maybe the key to your happiness is a completely new area of work, and you want to begin your journey into a particular career. If so; the best way to start is from the beginning and start training or gaining the right qualifications that will stand you in good stead for your future in a certain job. Heading back to college or university can be expensive, so you might want to look into how you’re going to pay for it. Yes you could rack up debt to do it – there is certainly not shortage of companies showing you how to get a personal loan, but figuring out if there are any financial grants or help available for someone in your position would be a better place to start. Saving up first would also be a more preferable option and will put you in a much better financial situation.

If you can’t afford to give up work and head into full-time education (and who can?), don’t worry; there will be plenty of part-time courses available, and you can check out the Open University or similar so that you can gain your qualifications from the comfort of your own home. Giving yourself the right things you need on your CV will be a great way to spend your year, and you’ll be happy in the knowledge that you’re working towards your dream job.
If you’re happy in your chosen field of work, but feel that you’re ready for more responsibility, not to mention a pay rise; then look into a promotion within your company. Rework your CV and write a detailed account of your attributes and the reasons you feel you deserve to get a step up the ladder in your current job. Employers often prefer to hire from within and keep their team for long periods of time; therefore, you’re already halfway there regarding your suitability and how appealing you are.
Be proactive and take as much action now so that your 2018 turn out to be your best working year yet!
